MP3 Downloads of Trance Music - Where Are The Best Sources?
This page will list notable artists with mp3 downloads of trance music, and where you will find legal downloads of them.
What is trance music? As the name suggests, it aims at putting in a trance, or hypnotic state. Trance music contains a combination of hard, up-tempo, four-on-the-floor beats, arpeggiated sequences, and euphoric, anthem-like refrains.
To access mp3 downloads of trance music use links beside the artist. A new window of the respective digital music service will appear.
Due to their selection, iTunes is recommended over Napster, unless you plan to download many songs (more than 10-15 per month). Then Napster would be the way to go. You can try a 7-day free trial of Napster for this - just log into the "Napster Official Site" and they'll walk you through the process. If you want you may read the review of Napster beforehand. In either case a new window will pop-up.
NOTE: Many of these artists are also becoming readily available on Rhapsody (from RealNetworks). You can download their songs for free using Rhapsody's 14-day trial. Click here to get a free 14-day trial of Rhapsody, or read the review beforehand. A new window will appear in either case.
Joey Beltram - iTunes, napster Robert Miles - iTunes, napster Juno Reactor - iTunes, napster Jam and Spoon - iTunes, napster Paul Oakenfold - iTunes, napster Paul Van Dyk - iTunes
For current trends in trance music, the best source is
www.beatport.com.
A new window will appear when you click on that link.
On the left side of the screen, just below "Home", there will be six choices. Click on "Music By Genres".
Once you arrive at the new screen, click on "Trance".
Another screen will appear. There is a top 10 selection - "Trance Top Downloads" at the right hand side of the page. Click on the sampler button to the left of the song, and you'll be able to hear the song through their jukebox. The samples are 3 minutes long.
What about p2p networks? You will find more selections in ones whereby you pay a fee (a small one-time fee) before you download their software. The selections are becoming increasingly difficult to access on free p2p networks, unfortunately. Less and less people are using free networks due to increasing problems associated with them.
Where in the past, you could only get in trouble for uploading songs, starting this year (2005) there have been several lawsuits against downloaders. Even if you've dowloaded five or six songs illegally, they may find you now and sue you for $1000's. Residents of Mexico, Russia, China, Africa and South America will be targeted soon. What may be the price for those people? 15 years in prison?
With all this hoopla, it is said that in two years, free p2p programs will be extinct.
Legality is not the only reason why free p2p networks usage has been declining. An in-depth article regarding the in's and out's of p2p networks may be found here.
Hopefully one day we will return to our free downloading days, when there will be a way for artists and labels to be compensated anyhow. Until then, have a look at the above legal downloading sources. If you approach them the right way - such as using the free trials or paid subcription plans - you will be spending pennies on the dollar for mp3 downloads of trance music.
