MusicNow downloads - the upsides and downsides

So what's the scoop on MusicNow and MusicNow downloads? Well... the Musicnow program is one that, like Napster and Rhapsody digital music download programs, let you listen to an unlimited amount of music for $9.95 per month.

The good sides of this program are that they offer a 7-day free trial and, unlike most other digital music services, this one does not require software to install. You just need to sign up for their service, and voila... you can listen to your music. You can transfer the songs to three different computers.

Unlike Napster or Rhapsody, however, for MusicNow downloads you have to pay an additional $0.99 to download a song. These songs you can burn to a CD.

Also, not only is the Musicnow service is not compatible with Mac, it also is non-compatible with Windows versions older than Windows 2000. And, like Wal-mart downloads, you need a Windows Media Player version 9 or 10.

You also need a Broadband internet connection. There is a special step that needs to be made if you want to play your songs on an iPod - the songs are not immediately downloadable on an iPod.

They do offer a free trial of this service. It is recommended to try the free trial of this $9.95 service plan only if you have not already tried Napster or Rhapsody. These latter two unlimited plans are streets ahead of Musicnow's. At least for now.

Before you decide if you want to pay money for Musicnow's program it might be a good idea for you to check out other digital music download services first.
